Participatory Budget Pilot Program in Oakridge

Last month, the City began piloting Participatory Budgeting (PB) in our Oakridge community. PB brings residents together to propose, develop, champion and vote on neighbourhood infrastructure improvements such as benches, lighting, planters, and signage on City streets, land or facilities. Each pilot-area will have a budget of $150,000. Weekend Subway Closure: Vic Park to Kennedy

This Saturday, June 13, there will be no subway service between Victoria Park and Kennedy stations–all trains will turn back westbound at Victoria Park Station. Normal subway service will resume on Sunday, June 14 at approximately 8:50 a.m. Replacement buses will stop at Kennedy, Warden and Victoria Park stations. Recycle Even More!

As of this month, residents can recycle even more types of plastic in their blue bin. New acceptable items include: milk bags and outer bags select types of bread bags (non-foil) sandwich bags (e.g. re-sealable type bags) bulk food bags (used for fruit, vegetables, nuts) dry cleaning bags newspaper/flyer bags fresh or frozen produce bags over-wrap from toilet paper, napkins, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, water/soft drink packaging, etc. Please empty and rinse these plastic items to remove residue before placing in the Blue Bin.This leaves only a few types...

City of Toronto Beach Season Begins

The City of Toronto is reminding residents about the importance of following water safety rules when enjoying the city’s world-class Blue Flag beaches. Nine of Toronto’s 11 public beaches officially open Saturday, June 6 for the summer season.
